| In art history,oil paintings depicting urban landscapes have a long history.During the Western Renaissance,the subjects of paintings were mainly derived from natural landscapes and biblical stories,etc.By the mid-19 th century,the development of urbanisation and changes in the social environment led artists to turn their vision to urban landscapes.Painters,mainly Manet,Monet and Pissarro,took the urban landscape as a creative element.Since the 20th century,with the development of urbanisation and the progress of science and technology,the language and forms of expression of painting have tended to diversify in the era of interconnectedness of everything.At the same time,the current state of social development has had an important impact on artistic creation.This thesis takes’ oil paintings on urban themes’ as the object of study,focusing on the practical and theoretical analysis of the author’s series of oil paintings on urban themes,’Urban Legend’.In the process of creation,urban scenes are integrated into the real lines of creation,attempting to deeply depict the current situation of urban development at different stages,in order to express the new face of the city and the cultural spirit of the new era,from a single depiction of the urban landscape,to the narration of personal life scenes,and then sublimated to the reflection on social phenomena.Painting should follow the times,and urban paintings express the state of human life in modern cities through the depiction of urban landscapes,attempting to unite expressive painting language with mixed realistic objects in the picture,from the subject matter to the visual mood.Taking urban scenes as the starting point,the paintings focus on the hot symbols derived from the urbanisation process,combined with the author’s own experience of urban life to talk about the shape of urbanisation in the new era,and finally convey the spirit of the times through the artistic expression of oil painting. |
