With the emergence of high-tech represented by artificial intelligence, machines as a product of technology have been upgraded from the initial simple mechanical form to more and more highly intelligent, and the relationship between humans and machines has also changed rapidly.Technology has gradually broken through the boundaries between organisms and machines, including humans and animals, and between the body and non-body,bringing about tremendous changes to the human body.Humans’ attitude towards machines has gradually shifted from control and opposition to symbiosis with them.It is against this background that the theory of "human-machine symbiosis" came into being. The theory of "Man-computer symbiosis" was first proposed by the American scholar Joseph Licklider in the 1960 s,and it is defined as "the cooperative interaction between humans and electronic computers. An expected development. This will involve a very close coupling between humans and electronic devices",showing that the human body is mutable on both a physical and virtual level."Human-machine symbiosis" has entered into contemporary visual art as an increasingly concerned theme, and more and more artists have participated in the creation of artistic images about human-machine symbiosis. The research object of this paper is "the image of ’human-machine symbiosis’ in contemporary visual art".Its scope is the "cyborg" image generated by the coupling of human and electronic equipment and the "virtual body" generated by computer technology, focusing on the study of such images in easel painting and new media art.Focusing on the analysis of the causes and artistic characteristics of the "human-machine symbiosis" image in the works of artists represented by Pang Maokun,Miao Xiaochun and Mori Mariko,we can understand how the artists break the conventional boundaries of the body to create, and then go deep into the background of the works.Meaning and the artist’s reflection on the relationship between people and technology. This paper summarizes the human-machine images in contemporary visual art into two categories, namely the human-machine images after the external expansion of the body and the human-machine images based on the "digitization" of the body.At the same time,it summarizes and refines the overall style of the human-machine image, and expounds the characteristics of the human-machine image with the ambiguity of the body boundary and the diversity of the body shape. In general, the image of "human-machine symbiosis" in contemporary visual art presents an aesthetic of the era characterized by a mix of scientific theories, classic icons and popular culture. The content of this paper is divided into five parts. In the introduction part, the research topic is outlined, the purpose and significance of the topic selection, the research status at home and abroad, the innovation and difficulty of the paper are expounded. The second part provides a theoretical explanation of the related concepts of "human-machine symbiosis",summarizes the development of the "human-machine symbiosis" image in visual art, analyzes the influencing factors of the image, and summarizes the "human-machine symbiosis" in contemporary visual art.status of the image. The third part and the fourth part are the key content of this paper. The third part is "human-machine symbiosis" as an image strategy.Several representative artists are selected to analyze the image and form of such images. The fourth part is the analysis of the aesthetic connotation of the image, which is discussed from three perspectives: the color of the picture, the characteristics of the composition and the symbolic meaning. The fifth part is the inspiration and significance from this research.
