The history of traditional Chinese landscape painting can be said to be a painting history of male painters.Female painters have neither entered the mainstream nor exerted influence in the painting world, which is largely due to the time and cultural background at that time.As a specific role in the society, women have always been unable to get away from the situation of being attached to male painting.Taking the boudoir painters of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties as an example, this thesis studies their landscape painting creation.Although their achievements are far less than those of literati painters at that time, their contributions in this field cannot be denied.Although the existence of boudoir painters could not expand the width of landscape painting, but expanded the depth of landscape painting. This thesis analyzes the background, characteristics and paintings of boudoir landscape painters in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and explores the reasons, formal language, historical context and historical significance of their landscape paintings. In the first part, from the subjective and objective factors such as economy, culture and the artists themselves, the reasons for the increase of boudoir paintings are discussed. In addition, the horizontal comparison is made with flower and bird paintings and figure paintings of the same period, and the reasons for the relatively scarce creation of landscape paintings are analyzed.Although they are encouraged to create by the society and scholars, due to the particularity of their social roles,The complexity of living environment and other factors hinder their choice of landscape painting themes. The second part, through the specific form analysis of the works of four representative boudoir landscape painters in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, explores their painting skills such as regulation, ink and color, and then summarizes the overall style of boudoir landscape painting in that era.The third part, through the analysis of the historical context of boudoir landscape paintings in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, interprets the female expression in their landscape paintings, explores the reasons for their choice of landscape themes and the artistic context of their landscape paintings. The fourth part explores the historical significance of boudoir landscape painters and their landscape paintings through the above analysis in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
