At the present time when China’s three-child policy is fully open, early childhood books,as an important vehicle for early childhood education, play a pivotal role in promoting the development of young children’s abilities. In response to families’ requirements for young children’s reading development and the increasing market demand for young children’s books, the exploration of young children’s book design based on multi-sensory reading experiences is an important direction for the development of young children’s book design. The thesis begins with an overview of the concepts of early childhood books and multisensory experience design, clarifies the concepts and multisensory cognitive characteristics of the research subjects through market research, questionnaires and literature research, and analyses the limitations of early childhood books currently on the market. This is followed by an analysis of the cognitive development of young children, the emotional connection between young children and young readers, and the ways in which multisensory experiences can enhance the value of young readers. Finally, from the three directions of children’s instinctive level, behavioural level and reflective level,we discuss children’s holistic reading habits, interactive behavioural sensory experiences and aesthetic interests with cultural connotations, based on which we propose design principles and design strategies for young children’s books from a multi-sensory reading perspective.By exploring these issues above,we sort out a holistic, interactive, and emotional system of designing young children’s books under multi-sensory reading experience. In order to achieve the effect of teaching for fun through reading for young children, enhance the comfort, interactivity and fun of the reading process for young children, and in this way strengthen their cognitive and learning abilities and promote their active exploration of the world.
