Before the outbreak of the Pacific War,the United States and Japan,to meet the needs of the war and maintain their event, respectively set up departments for the unified management of wartime ships, and designed and formulated similar plans for the construction of standard ships. The replenishment capability of transport ships in the war became the focus of the game between the two sides at the beginning of the war. With the continuous change of the war situation, the standard ship types planned and built by the United States and Japan have also changed: because of the continuous decline of the war situation,Japanese imperialism has become increasingly difficult to maintain the transport route of the standard ship, and finally went to the end;The United States relies on its strong national strength to take the advantage in the shipbuilding competition with Japan, and strong backing is an important factor for the United States to finally defeat Japan. The standard ships of the United States and Japan not only played the role of material supply and personnel transportation during the war but also made many contributions to the development of domestic industry and post-war economic construction. In the past, academic research on the Pacific War focused on the war, while the research on the industrial competition behind the war between the United States and Japan was slightly insufficient.Behind the construction of standard ships lies the competition between the military, industrial, and, national strengths on both sides.By investigating the process of standard ship construction of both sides and its impact on the outcome of the war,we can effectively sort out the specialization process of their wartime ship construction, and further analyze their impact on their countries in all aspects after the war. This paper consists of three chapters: introduction, text, and conclusion. In the introduction part, the basis of the topic selection, the research status at home and abroad, ideas and methods, and related concepts are systematically sorted out.The first chapter mainly introduces and discusses the emergence, construction, and function of the "standard ship" in the United States. After the outbreak of World War II,the United States imported and imported the prototype of standard ships adapted to the actual situation of the United States based on the ship drawings provided by the British. After the outbreak of the Pacific War,the United States adopted this drawing to start the process of building standard ships. It further improved the standard ships by expanding shipyards and improving shipbuilding methods, produced many "free ships" and improved "victory ships".The "standard ship" produced by the United States has played an important role in wartime and post-war because of its excellent performance and has made important contributions to the development of American industry. The second chapter mainly introduces and discusses the design plan, construction, and function of Japan’s "wartime standard ship".Japan’s preparation for standard ships has a long history.During World War II,according to the changes in the war situation,Japan built a large number of ships for wartime transportation and formed four "wartime standard ship" construction plans. These "wartime standard ships" are the main forces for Japan to transport materials and troops during the war,and are the important tools for Japan to carry out the invasion of China and the Pacific War.However, due to domestic contradictions, domestic resources, and industrial manufacturing capacity,as the Pacific War progressed, the number and quality of "wartime standard ships" changed constantly, and the four plans were not implemented on time and fully. With the change in the war situation, the role of the "wartime standard ship" in the war is becoming smaller and smaller, but its role in promoting Japan’s industrial and technological progress cannot be ignored. The third chapter mainly compares various data related to the "standard ship" between the United States and Japan.By comparing the data of the total amount of construction and ship specifications of American standard ships and Japan’s "wartime standard ships" in different periods, this paper studies how Japan fell into a disadvantage in the competition with the industrial strength of the United States from the aspects of ship performance and several ships, and finally went to the overall collapse of the shipbuilding industry. This study compares and studies the generation and construction of standard ships in the Pacific between the United States and Japan, and combs the specialization process of ship construction in wartime between the two countries.Through the comparison of the ship construction plan, ship performance, and wartime and post-war effects of the standard ships of the two countries, the historical facts that the United States used its strong industrial manufacturing capabilities to promote the war during the Pacific War are restored by using empirical research methods, and the rich strategic resources and shipbuilding capabilities of the United States are one of the important reasons for the final victory of the anti-fascist war.At the same time, from the perspective of the rise and fall of Japan’s "standard ship" plan,it analyzes the inevitability of Japan’s failure in the war, which is short of resources and helplessness. This study has greatly enriched China’s research on the shipbuilding history of the United States and Japan during the Pacific War and is a powerful supplement to the research on the history of modern world industrial development and war history.
