| Maurice Utrillo was an artist of the "Paris School of Painting" in France in the 20th century,and was also awarded the Medal of Honor of "Paris Citizen".He was one of the great French landscape painters in the early 20th century,and the main theme of his works was urban street scenery.The same theme in Utrillo’s hands showed the empty and lonely atmosphere.The emotion contained in his works and the sensory experience brought to the audience are very special.Loneliness and tranquility are also the most commonly used words to describe the atmosphere of his paintings.There are many reasons that influence Utrillo’s choice of urban theme.The research conclusion on the formation of his urban theme has an enlightening effect on the author’s choice of theme.The city in Utrillo’s works is different from other painters.The research conclusion on the characteristics of his works has a guiding role in the treatment of the author’s works.In reviewing the literature and materials,most of the articles focus on the life of Utrillo and the characteristics of his works in different periods.There is a lack of research and summary on why he chose the urban theme and the comprehensive characteristics of his works.Therefore,the author wants to make a comprehensive analysis of the choice of urban theme and the characteristics of his works through this article,and apply the research results to his creation for analysis and presentation.There are three chapters in this thesis.The first chapter mainly analyzes the subjective and objective factors of Utrillo’s choice of urban theme,and deeply analyzes the reasons why Utrillo has always insisted on the urban streetscape of Paris;The second chapter mainly analyzes the characteristics of Utrillo’s works,and analyzes the common characteristics of urban works from three aspects: the loneliness of emotional expression,the orderliness of rhythm expression and the plane;The third chapter focuses on the relevant knowledge learned in the process of analyzing Utrillo,and applies the theory to the author’s picture to enrich the deep meaning of the work. |
