From Theory To Practice:Qian Zhongshu’s Poetic Investigation Of ’Poetry Can Complain’ In Old-style Poetry

Qian Zhongshu is not only a writer but also a famous scholar.For a long time,the academic circles have paid more attention to his novels and literary thoughts,but paid less attention to his old-style poems.The purpose of this thesis is to explore Qian Zhongshu’s poetic proposition and poetic practice of "poetry can be resented".According to Qian Zhongshu’s theoretical interpretation of "poems can complain" and combined with a large number of "resentment poems" created by Qian Zhongshu,this paper excavates the theme implication of his old style "resentment poems",probes into the reasons and background of his creation of "resentment poems",and studies the poetic enlightenment of his old style "resentment poems".The main body of this thesis is divided into four chapters: the first chapter mainly discusses Qian Zhongshu’s poetic proposition that "poetry can be complained" according to Qian Zhongshu’s "poetry can complain".Qian Zhongshu’s poetics of "poetry can complain" has social and literary connotations;the most important feature of Qian Zhongshu’s resolution of grievances lies in finding problems in the comparison of Chinese and Western poetics;the background of his resolution of grievances is related to the political climate at that time and the popular view that "there is no tragedy in China",but the author thinks that in the final analysis,we should put "poetry can complain" into the internal understanding of literature.Qian Zhongshu’s interpretation of "poetry can complain" has both rationality and limitations.Qian Zhongshu made a modern transformation to the ancient literary theory of "poetry can complain".The second chapter is the classification of Qian Zhongshu’s Poems of resentment,which is divided into five parts based on the theme of practice and creation: works of youth,homesickness,grievances and grievances.The third chapter explores the source of Qian Zhongshu’s "resentment" and why there are so many "grievances".As far as the literary source is concerned,Qian Zhongshu is deeply influenced by classical literature and poetic propositions related to "poetry can complain";from the social background,the unfortunate realistic situation is an important reason for the creation of "sorrowful poetry";from the psychological basis,in addition to the surface psychological reasons such as emotional need to vent and melancholy knot is difficult to dispel,the "spiritual atavism" complex makes Qian Zhongshu tend to "poetry can complain" in the subconscious of old poetry writing.The fourth chapter explores the poetic enlightenment of Qian Zhongshu’s "resentment poems" in the old style.On the one hand,Qian Zhongshu uses old-style poems to construct the poetic proposition that "poems can complain" for various reasons.in addition,it is also a trend of the times after the founding of the People’s Republic of China to create old-style poems to express "song crying";on the other hand,Qian Zhongshu incorporated the spirit of modernity into his creation of old-style poems,so his poems showed the character of modernity.This paper makes an in-depth study of Qian Zhongshu’s poetic theory and related old-style poems from four angles: Qian Zhongshu’s poetic theory of "poems can complain",the classification of "resentful poems",the analysis of the reasons why "poems can complain" and the poetic enlightenment of the old-style "resentful poems".Thus a more comprehensive exposition of the characteristics of Qian Zhongshu’s oldstyle poems.
