A Practice Report On Consecutive Interpreting At Unmanned Driving Technology Workshop Based On Gile’s Effort Model

With the rapid development of Internet technology and artificial intelligence technology,the research of driverless technology and the manufacture of driverless cars have become a research hotspot in the field of artificial intelligence.Although the domestic research in this field started relatively late,it has made great progress and development in recent years.Many domestic enterprises and organizations have carried out relevant research.This practice report is a report about an unmanned driving technology workshop.This report analyzes the reasons of information loss during the consecutive interpreting and finds out the countermeasures to solve them under the guidance of Gile’s effort allocation mode.The writer aims to avoid similar problems in the future practice,so as to improve the interpretation performance.The interpreter analyzes the problems in the process of interpreting activities.The interpreter selects and analyzes the examples related to the most serious problem during the practice--information loss,and tried to solved them under the guidance of Gile’s effort allocation model.This report puts forward three reasons for information loss,which are unfamiliar Indian accent,poor extra-linguistic knowledge and failure of note-taking.Unfamiliar accents,unfamiliar proper nouns,and sentence structures that differ greatly between the source language and the target language can cause task overload.When interpreting a foreign language into a source language,more word-level correspondence is carried out,resulting in lower sensitivity to pragmatic information and slower interpretation speed.The corresponding solutions are as follows: appropriate inference during the interpretation process,improving pre-interpreting preparation and systematic information of notes.This report is a record,analysis and summary of the interpreter’s interpretation practice,which is a great leap from theory,practice,simulation to application.The review,analysis and improvement of the practical process in the report can enrich the experience,deepen the understanding,improve the interpretation ability,and provide great guidance and reference significance for the future practical interpretation.
