With the rapid development of society and the rapid change in lifestyle mental health problems including mental illness have become a new issue troubling people. The survey found that in recent years,self-injury behaviors of Chinese teenagers were frequent. However, only a very small number of teenagers chose professional help for self-injury,and the psychological stigma was prominent.Although this kind of selfinjury behavior does not have suicidal intention, scholars have generally found that it is a risk predictor of suicidal ideation and a serious threat to the physical and mental health of adolescents. Therefore,it is very important to pay attention to adolescent nonsuicidal self-injury,clarify its related risk or protective factors, and then provide effective prevention and intervention measures.Adolescence is a key period of personality formation and development, and positive mental qualities can effectively avoid mental health problems. There is evidence that mental health literacy is an effective way to improve individuals’ mental health and even affect their health behavior. In conclusion, mental health literacy may be an effective predictor of NSSI.Based on the "knowing and believing" theory of behavior change, this study intends to explore the influence of mental health literacy on adolescents’ non-suicidal self-injury behavior and verify the mediating role of selfefficacy. In addition,an intervention plan was designed on the basis of study 1,with a view to improving adolescents’ mental health literacy and self-efficacy,so as to reduce the occurrence of non-suicidal self-injury behaviors. This study consists of two parts. In the first study,853 adolescents(14.4±1.58 years old)from three middle schools in Hubei Province and Henan Province were investigated by using the questionnaire method, including the adolescent mental health literacy rating scale, the general self-efficacy scale and the adolescent self-injury behavior questionnaire. The relationship between adolescent mental health literacy,self-efficacy,and non-suicidal self-injury was investigated. This paper discusses the mediating effect of self-efficacy and verifies the theory of "knowing and believing" to a certain extent. In study 2,26 students with non-suicidal self-injury behaviors were selected as subjects according to the principle of voluntarism and randomly assigned to the experimental group and control group. The experimental group of 13 people received a 5-week combined video contact and writing expression intervention, while the control group did not do any treatment. The analysis and judgment were made to determine whether there was a significant effect of video contact and writing expression intervention on adolescents’ mental health literacy,self-efficacy,and non-suicidal selfinjury behavior. The study draws the following conclusions:(1)Adolescent mental health literacy was positively correlated with self-efficacy and negatively correlated with non-suicidal self-injury;Self-efficacy was negatively correlated with non-suicidal self-injury.(2)Self-efficacy has some mediating effect between adolescents’ mental health literacy and non-suicidal self-injury.(3)Video contact and written expression intervention can significantly improve adolescents’ mental health literacy and self-efficacy,thereby reducing the frequency and extent of non-suicidal self-injury.This study explored the internal protective mechanism of mental health literacy against non-suicidal self-injury and found the important mediating factor of selfefficacy, which expanded the research field of non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents. In addition,in practice, starting from the process of intervention orientation and formulating a set of intervention programs, has played a positive role in the reduction of adolescent non-suicidal self-injury behavior. At the same time, the implementation of video contact intervention and written expression also reveals that the practical work of mental health education in schools should not only strengthen the "remedial" work such as psychological counseling and intervention referral, but also pay more attention to the "preventive" work such as daily education, teaching, and discipline penetration,to cultivate students’ positive psychological qualities such as self-esteem and self-confidence from the root, and reduce the generation of problem behaviors.
