A Study On The Relationship Between Body Image Satisfaction,Psychological Capital,Mental Health And Social Adaptation Of College Students | | Posted on:2024-06-23 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:H N Wu | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555307067465204 | Subject:Master of Applied Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The level of social adaptation is not only an important part of the WHO’s definition of health,but also an important indicator of individual social and psychological maturity.Based on social comparison theory,sociocultural theory,stress cognitive interaction theory and multi-factor model theory of social adaptation,this study starts from the social hot issue "college students’ social adaptation problem",and explores the current situation and influencing factors of college students’ social adaptation,which has important practical and theoretical significance.Using the method of cluster sampling,a total of 1181 full-time undergraduate college students from three universities in the eastern,central and western regions of China were selected as the research objects,and the body image status scale,positive psychological capital questionnaire,mental health self-rating scale and adolescent social adaptation assessment questionnaire were used as research tools to explore the relationship between the four variables of college students’ body image satisfaction,psychological capital,mental health and social adaptation,and the influence mechanism of body image satisfaction on social adaptation was analyzed.The PROCESS plugin and AMOS24.0 perform statistical analysis of the data.The following conclusions were obtained:(1)College students’ body image satisfaction,psychological capital and social adaptation were at an upper middle level,and the total score of mental health(SCL-90)based on the positive detection rate of the national norm was 39.4%.(2)Physical image satisfaction,psychological capital,mental health and social adaptation differed significantly in some demographic variables,in summary: the social adaptation level of female college students was better than that of male college students;The psychological capital,mental health and social adaptation of college students in the central region are better than those in the eastern and western regions.The psychological capital,mental health and social adjustment status of first-year students are better than those of sophomores,juniors and seniors.The physical image satisfaction,psychological capital and social adaptation status of student leaders and college students were better than those of nonstudent cadre college students.The psychological capital,mental health and social adjustment status of non-only child college students were better than those of only child college students;The mental health of college students without left-behind experience is better than that of college students with left-behind experience.(3)College students’ body image satisfaction significantly positively predicted their social adaptation;College students’ psychological capital level significantly positively predicts their mental health level.(4)psychological capital plays a partial mediating role between body image satisfaction and social adaptation;Mental health plays a partial mediating role between body image satisfaction and social adjustment;Psychological capital and mental health play a chain mediating role between body image satisfaction and social adaptation.Studies have shown that college students’ body image satisfaction can not only directly affect their social adaptation,but also indirectly affect social adaptation by affecting psychological capital and mental health level.Finally,some educational suggestions were also put forward: college students should build a correct and reasonable cognitive system;Parents should pay attention to the cultivation of children’s positive psychological capital;Schools should strengthen mental health education for college students and establish good prevention mechanisms;Social culture should be checked by relevant departments to reduce the spread of bad culture among the masses. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | social adaptation, body image satisfaction, psychological capital, mental health, college students | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
