From the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 to the eve of the Cultural Revolution in 1966,the cultural impulse to create a "socialist modernity" different from "bourgeois modernity" ran through the 1950 s and1960s.During the 17-year period, the creation of the socialist culture of New China was not only directly affected by the internal economic and political changes, but also formed a socialist cultural star cluster with the socialist countries headed by the Soviet Union.Among them, the space fever caused by the Soviet Union’s successful launch of Sputnik on October 4,1957,and the rapid and enthusiastic response of New China, which belongs to the socialist camp, have brought diversity and complexity to the cultural and spiritual landscape of the 17-year period.Under the structure of the Cold War,PRC and the Soviet Union not only shared some similar atmosphere, ideology and knowledge structure of the times, but also owned many cultural differences worth investigating.Based on this dialectical feature, this paper takes the Chinese science fictions published in 1949-1966 as object, and tries to discuss how science fiction organically participated in the socialist cultural construction of New China in the historical context of Sino Soviet cultural exchanges, and become an important component of its knowledge map.Although the research on the 17-year literature did not directly deal with the literature types related to science, science still constitutes the background of the 17-year literature writing and cultural configuration. Therefore,"science" becomes a theoretical perspective to research the heterogeneity of 17-year literature.Science is not only the object of literature expression, but also the intermediary of socialist literary practice, and finally the basic characteristic pursued by the socialist cultural order. This paper attempts to make a comprehensive discussion on the history, form, content and theory of the 17-year science fictions that began in "Sleepwalking in the Solar System"(1950)and ended in "Strange Robot Dog"(1965).First of all,by outlining the translation and introduction of "science fiction" and "science arts" in the Soviet Union in the 1950 s and 1960 s,this paper discusses the learning, imitation and overcoming of Soviet literature paradigm in the active or passive sense of science fiction in the 17-year period,so as to establish a reference system of history and theory for subsequent analysis;Secondly, focusing on the formal characteristics of the 17-year science fictions, this paper analyzes the narrative effect and theoretical significance of the popular science myth structure,"story" structure and a large number of tabular illustrations in the text;Thirdly, pay attention to the environmental ethics, technological ethics and temporal ethics written in the 17-year science fictions, show the initiative and creativity of this literary type in constructing an ideal society, and propose another socialist modernity imagination about science that is different from the traditional 17-year literature; Finally,by looking back at the historical context of 17-year science fictions, this paper re-understands it from the perspective of "Revolutionary Romanticism",and then discusses the theoretical correlation between it and mainstream literary concepts and the resulting writing problems,so as to present the inherent complex landscape and multi-level historical consciousness of socialist literature and art.
