In the new media era where social media is prevalent,small-production,short-term micro-movies differentiated from film art are more in line with the usage habits of users of social media platforms. In such an era of media fusion,micro-movies are not only increasingly favored by some advertisers, but also attracted the attention of many scholars. As an audio-visual art,micro-movies need to have certain narrative elements and a unique film audio-visual language to help audiences have an emotional link to the film,so as to achieve its communication effect. At present, domestic scholars’ research on micro-movies mainly focuses on narrative strategies, communication strategies, etc.,but there are relatively few studies on the emotional reactions of audiences after watching movies. But it is worth noting that the emotional infection and reaction of the audience watching the movie will directly affect the dissemination effect of the movie. At the same time, film creators can also design audio-visual shots and storylines that can better trigger the audience’s emotional experience based on the research results of emotional responses. Therefore, the research on the emotional response to watching movies will bring some enlightenment to the creation of movies. In order to supplement the domestic research content in the field of film emotional response, this paper focuses on the empathic experience in the emotional response of the audience with the help of research in the fields of cognitive science and neuroscience.Combined with the audio-visual language analysis of the author’s graduation work “Does My Mother Love Me?”,this paper aims to explore the audience’s narrative cognitive process, sensory stimulation, and character lens design when they watch the micro-movie.The feedback effect of empathic experience is analyzed with the help of empirical research results of foreign scholars.
