English New Curriculum Standard clearly emphasizes that English curriculum should fully use modern educational technology to support teaching.Faced the current situation that students are generally afraid of difficulties in grammar learning now,English grammar teaching in junior middle school should keep pace with the times and seek a breakthrough.Research shows that blended learning can not only effectively improve students’ English reading and writing skills,but also promote grammar learning.Because of the particularity of the close combination of online learning and classroom teaching in the blended learning model,the factors that affect its effect are also more complex.The difficulties faced by learners in cognitive,emotional and behavioral aspects will make it difficult for them to engage in learning,and ultimately affect the learning effect.On the other hand,the network teaching under the WebQuest teaching mode can effectively enhance the interaction between teachers and students in the network teaching and improve their learning engagement.Combined with the two characteristics,this study constructs a blended learning model based on WebQuest and applies it to junior middle school English grammar class to focus on solving strategies to improve students’ learning attitude and engagement to promote English learning.This study adopts the mixed research method of the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis,and adopts the methods of literature research,quasi-experimental research and interview.Firstly,this paper adopts literature research to analyze the current situation of blended learning and WebQuest and their application in English teaching at home and abroad,and defines the concepts of blended learning,WebQuest and learning engagement.Based on the literature review,this paper deeply studies the feasibility and design principles of mixed learning model based on WebQuest,and constructs a new instructional design model.The model consists of four parts: pre-analysis,activity and resource design,implementation of learning activities and learning effect evaluation.The preliminary analysis includes three aspects: learning objectives,learning content and students’ learning situation;the design of activities and resources includes online and offline student activities,activity tasks,activity resources and learning scaffolding;the implementation of learning activities includes three parts: pre-class preparation,in-class learning and after-class consolidation.The evaluation of learning effect evaluates the application effect by using grammar test questions,learning attitude and learning engagement scale and semi-structured interview.This study selects the grammar contents of the general future tense in the first volume of Grade 8,and designs two grammar teaching cases based on the model.Secondly,the quasi-experimental research method is used to carry out the teaching practice research of the blended learning model based on WebQuest.After research,in terms of grammar learning attitude,with students’ four dimensions of learning attitude improved,their post-test performance in the experimental class has seen a significant improvement,and the behavioral,emotional and cognitive levels of learning engagement in the experimental class are significantly better than those in the control class.The improvement of grammar test scores in the experimental class is greater than that in the control class.Therefore,the model has a good application effect in improving students’ grammar learning performance,learning attitude and learning engagement.Finally,through semi-structured interviews,in-depth understanding of the experimental subjects to experience WebQuest-based blended learning model of cognition and acceptance.As a teacher,the author synthesizes the classroom observation,students’ performance,students’ works and interview results of WebQuest mixed teaching,summarizes the application problems of this model,and puts forward the corresponding solutions.
