With the steady development of the One Belt and One Road construction,China has paid more and more attention to the cultivation of talents in Xinjiang.In the process of talent training,the language education of ethnic minorities occupies an important position.Due to economic globalization and the informatization of social life,the importance of English education has become increasingly prominent.In addition to being proficient in Chinese,the official language of the country,ethnic minority students also need to learn English well.In order to respond to the national talent training plan in ethnic minority areas and promote the economic and cultural development of southern Xinjiang,the Southern Xinjiang Ethnic High School officially added English as a compulsory subject for students from September 2019.However,at present the English teaching in southern Xinjiang is limited by many factors,and there are some significant problems.Therefore,this paper takes the English learning of 6 ethnic minority schools in Kashgar region as the research subject,finds out the problems existing in teaching,and puts forward the corresponding solutions.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,introducing the research background and significance of this paper;Chapter two is the theoretical basis and literature review of the paper;Chapter three is the research design,including teacher-student interviews and typical cases;chapter four is the analysis of the study results;The fifth chapter is the conclusions and implication of this study.Based on the exploratory practice theory and using the method of in-depth interview to truly reflect the current English teaching situation in Southern Xinjiang.Through the research analysis,the conclusion is drawn from the understanding of English subject,school and individual teachers.Based on this,this paper presents suggestions,hoping to provide reference for English teaching in the future.
