At present, information technology and digitalization, marked by network and computer technology, are affecting people’s lives and working style with rapid development and irreversible trend, from small to clothing, food, housing, and transportation,to city management, all aspects of people’s lives are being affected by information technology.Electronic products are becoming an important tool and resource for people’s life, work, and study, and the management of the huge amount of data generated is becoming more and more prominent. For individuals, excessive and non-adaptive digital hoarding behaviors may have an impact on their physical and mental health. In recent years, research related to digital hoarding behavior has begun to receive widespread attention from multiple disciplines. This study is divided into two sub-studies.Study 1 is a revision of the Digital Hoarding Behavior Scale, and the revised Digital Hoarding Behavior Scale shows good psychometric properties in our vocational school student population.Study 2 was to explore the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty, difficulties in emotion regulation, experiential avoidance, and digital hoarding behavior and the test of mediating effects, with 499 valid data collected through a web-based questionnaire. The results of data analysis showed that intolerance of uncertainty was significantly positively correlated with digital hoarding behavior(r=0.71,p<0.001),and significantly positively correlated with difficulties in emotion regulation(r=0.59,p<0.001),and difficulties in emotion regulation were significantly and positively correlated with digital hoarding behavior(r=0.56,p<0.001).Intolerance of uncertainty was significantly and positively correlated with experiential avoidance(r=0.61,p<0.001),and experiential avoidance was significantly and positively correlated with digital hoarding behavior(r=0.58,p<0.001).The results of the mediation effect test showed that difficulties in emotion regulation partially mediated the effect of intolerance of uncertainty on digital hoarding behavior, with an effect value of 0.09,p<0.001.experiential avoidance partially mediated the effect of intolerance of uncertainty on digital hoarding behavior, with an effective value of 0.04,p<0.05.difficulties in emotional regulation and experiential avoidance have a chain mediating role in the impact of intolerance of uncertainty on digital hoarding behavior, with an effect value of 0.04,p<0.05.In summary, the results of this study support the hypothesized model of the effect of intolerance of uncertainty on digital hoarding behavior and provide corresponding suggestions and recommendations that are useful for preventing and intervening in students’ digital hoarding behavior.
