The Relationship Between Intolerance Of Uncertainty And Depression In College Students:Mediating Effect Of Rumination And Regulatory Effect Of Emotion Regulation

This present study aims to explore the relationship about Intolerance of Uncertainty to depression,and the indirect of ruminative and regulation function of Emotion Regulation,by surveying 700 college students from Hei long jiang province with Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12(IUS-12),Beck Depression Inventory(BDI),The Chinese Version Ruminative Response Scale(RRS),Emotion Regulation Scale,(ERS).The results show that:(1)there was a significant gender difference in Intolerance of Uncertainty,and the score of female students was higher than that of male students;The independent samples t test showed that the main effect of grade Intolerance of Uncertainty was significantly different,and the score of sophomore year was higher than that of the other three grades.(2)there is no significant gender difference in the average scores ofbrood,reflection and ruminative among college students;Multivariate analysis of variance of student origin and grade showed that there were significant differences in grade main effect on average score ofbrood and ruminative.There were significant differences in ruminative between college students.(3)there is no significant gender difference in depression among college students.Multivariate analysis of variance of students’ place of origin and grade indicated that the main effect of grade depression was significantly different among college students,and the score of sophomore year was higher than that of the other three grades.(4)there was a significant gender difference in college student suppression,and the score of male students was significantly higher than that of female students.There was no significant gender difference between college students reappraisal and Emotion Regulation.Multivariate anova of student origin and grade showed that the main effect of grade suppression was significantly different among college students,and the score of freshman year was higher than that of the other three grades.(5)Intolerance of Uncertainty is significantly positively correlated with depression,Intolerance of Uncertainty is significantly positively correlated with rumination,rumination is significantly positively correlated with depression,EmotionRegulation is significantly positively correlated with rumination,and Emotion Regulation is not significantly correlated with depression.(6)Structural equation showed that Intolerance of Uncertainty had a significantly indirect effect on depression behavior through ruminative,that was,ruminative mediated the relation between Intolerance of Uncertainty and depression in college students.suppression plays a significant regulatory role in the influence of meditation response on college students’ depressive.At the low suppression level,the predictive effect of the rumination reaction on the depression of college students is low.At the level of high suppression,the rumination reaction plays a significant role in predicting depression of college students.
