| The counselor is a profession unique to our country.As the guide for the healthy growth of college students,they play an important role in the management of college students and the development of schools.In recent years,the state has vigorously strengthened and improved the ideological and political education of college students,and has set higher demands on the work of counselors.However,at present,the number of counselors in many schools is insufficient.And in the face of a large number of tedious daily tasks,the phenomenon of counselor burnout is becoming more and more common.How to help counselors alleviate burnout,increase work engagement,and improve work performance has become an urgent problem to be solved.Thus the research on work engagement from the perspective of positive psychology has become a hot topic.The society’s attention to the work engagement of counselors has gradually increased,but it has not yet focused on the development of their daily psychological work.This paper takes this as the starting point.On the basis of the job demands-resources model,we introduced the psychological work competence as a personal resource,explored the interaction mechanism between variables,and studied the counselors’ psychological work competence and the factors influencing their work engagement.The study consisted of two parts.Part one used the quantitative research method to collect data from 313 questionnaires.Part two adopted the qualitative research method to conduct in-depth interviews with 17 counselors.The results showed that:(1)The level of work engagement of counselors is good,but there are significant differences in terms of age and marital status;(2)Counselors have a high level of resources for their work,and there are significant differences in terms of age and marital status;(3)Counselors’ psychological competence is at an upper-middle level,and there are significant differences in terms of age and marital status;(4)Counselors have a high level of job demands and there are significant differences in terms of working years;(5)Job resources can directly and positively predict counselors’ work engagement;(6)Psychological competence can directly and positively predict work engagement;(7)Psychological work competence plays an partial role between counselor job resources and work engagement;(8)Job demands regulate the mediating effect of psychological work competence in between work resources and work engagement,forming a regulated intermediary model;(9)in addition to social support and decision-making autonomy,positive feedback and vocational identity can also promote counselors’ work engagement.Conclusion:Job demands,job resources and psychological work competence are important influencing factors for counselors’ work engagement,and the public should continue to pay attention to counselors’ work engagement and help promote their occupational mental health. |
