The Museum Liaison Interpretation Under The Guidance Of The Interpretive Theory

In the context of economic globalization and foreign exchanges,cultural exchanges among China and other countries are increasingly frequent.In recent years,with the rise of urban tourism,museums’ tourism and publicity functions have become increasingly prominent and become an essential carrier to display the city’s unique history and culture,enhancing the city’s cultural and tourist attractions.If a visitor wants to know more about a city in a short period of time,visiting museums will be a good choice.During a conversation with a Ghana exchange student,the student expressed a desire to learn more about Chengdu.In response,the author suggested that he could quickly get to know the city by visiting the Chengdu Museum.Consequently,upon his invitation,the author escorted him as an interpreter during his visit to the Chengdu Museum.This interpreting practice report is also based on this practice.The report expounds the author’s work before and during the escort interpreting,and finally,she reviews,analyses,and summarizes the escort interpretation through case analysis.Interpretive theory holds that translation is a communicative act whose task is to convey communicative meaning.Its focus is not on the correspondence of words but on the equivalence of meaning.This point of view is in line with the task requirements of the author’s interpreting practice.Therefore,when selecting interpreting strategies,the author focuses on seeking a theoretical basis from the perspective of interpretive theory.The author uses interpretive theory as guide theory to analyze the problem the author encountered in the process of interpreting.The problems encountered are caused by a lack of background information,redundancy,culture-loaded words,logic gap and the corresponding problems are solved by using interpreting strategies such as amplification,omission,reorganization,and conversion.At the end of the report,the author summarizes the main content and some existing problems of this report,hoping to provide some inspiration and reference for interpreters who indulge in similar museum interpretation situations in the future.
