| As a very popular theme of native story painting in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes,"the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 of Mogao Grottoes was painted in Sui Dynasty,which is the most complete and representative Buddhist story painting so far.This paper takes the artistic features of the existing "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Mogao Grottoes as an entry point,and makes an in-depth study of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 by adopting the methods of image analysis,comparative analysis and literature research.First of all,this paper studies and analyzes its content and image structure,and studies the composition characteristics of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 by means of image analysis.The author thinks that the composition of long scroll story painting is influenced by India and Gandhara,and combines Chinese traditional painting style."The Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 is a "twists and turns" composition in a long scroll.Moreover,its plot layout is influenced by the brick composition of the seven sages of bamboo forest in Wei and Jin Dynasties,and the plot of the picture is separated by trees,which is independent and can be connected in series to form a complete story.Secondly,the author analyzes its plot and modeling expression,and makes a comparative study of the plot layout and image characteristics of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Northern Zhou Dynasty and Sui Dynasty respectively by means of comparative analysis."The Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 adopts the painting technique of "the painting of character shaping is larger than the mountains",in which the shape and dynamics of the story painting always maintain the principle of "there is a degree of exaggeration and decoration",which properly reflects the aesthetic requirements of "the shape is showed by shape,and being alike in both appearance and presence".Thirdly,this paper studies its coloring and color symbolism by means of literature research.The author thinks that "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 is influenced by Chinese traditional color concept,and adopts the contrast of warm and cold colors and the concave-convex vignetting technique in the Western Regions.Its picture not only shows a simple and frank artistic atmosphere,but also expresses unique symbolic significance of color.In addition to its high moral education and aesthetic value,"the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" also has an important derivative value.This paper makes an in-depth study and understanding of the composition characteristics,image characteristics,color characteristics and color symbolism of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302,and then draws the following conclusion: the composition form of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of(?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 is full,the story plot is complete,the main image is rich,and the picture tone is gorgeous.Therefore,we can refine its elements from composition,plot,image,color and other aspects for creation.The cultural and creative product design of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka" in Cave 302 of Mogao Grottoes adopts the modern geometric generalization technique,and designs IP characters that can deepen the image of Sama the Devoted Son by re-transforming Dunhuang colors and condensing the plot of "the Story Paintings of Jatāka of (?)yāmaka".In the meantime,illustrations that can show the unique decorative aesthetics of Dunhuang story paintings are also drawn here,and posters that can reinterpret the story of Buddha’s Past Life are created,aiming at inheriting and carrying forward the excellent culture of Dunhuang story paintings. |
