A Report On C-E Translation Of Silk String Gold Wooden Fish

Chinese opera is the treasure of the excellent traditional culture in China,which is known as the three oldest dramas in the world with Greek tragicomedy and Indian Sanskrit drama.As an important component of traditional Chinese opera,Hebei opera Silk String carries profound Chinese culture.At present,the drama translation practice to English in China is in the ascendant,but the translation research related to Silk String has not gained corresponding attention.This practice report is based on the renown traditional Silk String Gold Wooden Fish,mainly involving four chapters: introduction to translation tasks,description of translation process,case analysis,and conclusion.The translation task introduction section mainly elaborates the background,source text features,and report structure of the translation practice of Gold Wooden Fish.The chapter of translation process description mainly includes four parts: translation preparation,translation implementation,translation quality control,and the selection of translation theory.The case analysis follows the principle of “faithful equivalence” and the translator employs strategies such as thick translation,free translation,and amplification to solve translation problems.The summary part mainly discusses the future prospect for the English translation practice of Silk String.The publicity and translation of Silk String can promote the dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.This report is an attempt to translate Silk String into English,in order to provide reference for the study of Silk String’s English translation.
