| This report of simulated consecutive interpreting is based on the press conference of the Fifth Session of the 13thNational Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC).As an important window for the international community to understand China’s policies,the spokesperson of this press conference answers questions from Chinese and foreig、n journalists on issues such as democratic consultation and global governance,providing Chinese wisdom for the international community.The press conference is characterized by dialogue-based communication,which has features of high interaction and frequent switching of dialogue subjects.This report is based on the interpretive theory as a guidance.Since its establishment in France in the 1960s,the interpretive theory has had a great influence on international interpreting theoretical researches and practical activities.After a century of development,many theories related to interpreting have made remarkable achievements,but the interpretive theory,which is directly derived from interpreting practices,has produced more unique insights for interpreting researches.This report selects representative cases and conducts interpreting practice under the framework of material comprehension,de-verbalization,and re-expression,which are the focus of interpretive theory.This report trained the interpreter’s abilities of information comprehension,information processing,and cross-cultural communication skills.During the study,the interpreter summarized and reflected on the problems she encountered in the process of interpreting,and explored the significance of interpretative theory in guiding such government press conferences.It is dedicated to conveying the speaker’s intention based on full consideration of the cognitive acceptance of the target language audiences,using interpretive theory to guide interpreting practices and laying the foundation for higher quality interpreting practices in the future. |
