| In today’s increasingly developed age of information exchange, visual image has become an important means of expression.Incorporating modern design concepts into traditional tourism development has become a trend of the times.Jingzhou Ancient City, located in the Jianghan Plain,is an important birthplace of Chu culture and Three Kingdoms culture.Against the backdrop of the current integration of culture and tourism,Jingzhou Ancient City has become an important strategic resource for cultural tourism. However, the most common problem in the development of ancient city tourism is a "cookie-cutter" experience. The planning of the ancient city focuses on form but deviates from local cultural characteristics.Despite being in a culturally rich area,it presents hollow and boring content. When the planning and development of the ancient city lacks careful consideration,it will inevitably lead to visual repetition and confusion.Just like some cities have a long history but still maintain unique charm and posture, while some cities without a long history look old and tired. Therefore, attention should be paid to protecting and inheriting the cultural connotations of Jingzhou Ancient City, tapping into local cultural characteristics, incorporating them into tourism planning, creating attractive and unique tourism products, and achieving sustainable development of ancient city tourism. This paper takes Jingzhou Ancient City as an example to explore the role of graphic design in the design and application of the Jingzhou Ancient City visual recognition system.Firstly, through research and analysis, the cultural characteristics of Jingzhou Ancient City and the needs of tourists are clarified. Then, based on these needs,a visual recognition system with Jingzhou Ancient City as the theme is designed, and graphic design is used to optimize the system. Finally, through field testing, the important role of the system in promoting the cultural experience of Jingzhou Ancient City and promoting the cultural tourism of Jingzhou Ancient City is demonstrated. |
