| As the "Mandarin Fever" continues to heat up,there appears a obvious trend that more students learn Chinese at their younger age around the world.As auxiliary reading materials for Chinese learning,graded reading materials of TCFL can improve the Chinese level of learners through the cultivation of reading ability.Teenagers are the majority of Chinese learners,with unique characteristics of thinking development.However,currently the graded Chinese reading materials of TCFL for teenagers are still in a newly emerging stage of development,and there are many problems that need to be solved for further improvement and perfection.Therefore,the author looked up the relevant graded Chinese reading materials for teenagers and found that the two sets of reading materials Friends(1-3)and Smart Cat(1-3)chose the vocabulary in the new Chinese Proficiency Test 1-3 syllabus as its grading standard with the same difficulty.Therefore,the author chose the two as the research objects and conducted a comparative study on them.There are six parts in this paper.The first part mainly introduces the background of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,the object and method of the research,as well as the publishing status and research status of graded Chinese reading materials of TCFL.The second part compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between the two sets of readings,mainly including the overall structure,theme,genre and length of the readings.The third part is the study of the vocabulary arrangement of the two sets of reading materials,and the comparative analysis of the characteristics of the two sets of readings in three aspects: the quantity of new words,the density of new words and the recurrence rate of new words.The fourth part examines the exercises,illustrations and digital resources of the two sets of readings and makes a detailed comparison and analysis.The fifth part is a survey of the two sets of readings,including a questionnaire survey of young readers’ reading experience and an interview survey of Chinese teachers,in order to understand what aspects of the two sets of reading materials need to be improved from the audience’s perspective.The sixth part,based on the above comparison and survey results,puts forward some suggestions for the compilation of graded Chinese reading materials for teenagers,and puts forward some suggestions on how to apply the two sets of reading materials to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,so that they can play the auxiliary role in teaching to the maximum extent.After a detailed comparison and analysis of two sets of graded Chinese reading materials for teenagers,this paper puts forward some suggestions on how to compile them.The compilation of reading materials should follow the principles as targeted,practical,scientific,interesting and systematic;The structure of reading materials should be optimized to facilitate readers to obtain information and enrich the themes and genres of reading materials.Pay attention to the arrangement of the quantity and density of new words,set reasonable recurrence rate of new words,to ensure that readers can learn more words through reading;The exercises should be with moderate amount,and the types of exercises should be diverse,interesting and communicative.The placement of illustrations should not affect the reader’s reading.In addition,we should strengthen the development of reading digital resources to provide readers with a richer and three-dimensional reading experience.Finally,the author puts forward some specific suggestions on the use of the two sets of readings in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. |
