volunteers. However, some people escaped with the virus after being infected with COVID-19 and passed the virus to more people. The reason that there is such a large gap in prosocial behavior among people in a stressful situation needs to be explore.Bandura’s social cognition theory points out that individual behavior is the result of the interaction between individual factors and environmental factors. In the perspective of social cognition theory, the purpose of this study is to explore whether life events can reduce prosocial behavior by enhancing individuals’ dark triad levels with 1272 adolescents as research subjects, and whether this influence path will be suppressed by the individual’s light triad and regulated by student perceived interpersonal harmony in class. The study will provide educational suggestions for interfering with the negative impact of life events on prosocial behavior. In study 1,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 644 adolescents using the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check-List,Pro-social Tendencies Measure,Bright Triad Scale, and Dark Triad Scale.SPSS26.0 and Mplus8 were used to conduct individual centered and variable centered analysis of the data. The results of individual centered analysis show that there are four profiles of individual personality, with 48.6% of high light and low darkness,11.6% of high light and high darkness,32.3% of medium light and dark, and 7.5% of low light and high darkness. The average scores of the four categories’ prosocial behavior are 4.06,3.66,3.49,and 2.97,with the level of prosocial behavior decreasing in turn. The results of variable centered analysis show that adolescent life events can significantly negatively predict prosocial behavior, and dark triad plays a completely mediating role in this path. However, after incorporating bright personality as a control variable into the mediating model, the mediating effect of dark triad disappeared. In study 2,628 adolescents were investigated using the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check-List,Pro-social Tendencies Measure,Dark Triad Scale and Student Perceived Interpersonal Harmony in Class Scale. The data were analyzed with SPSS26.0.The results show that student perceived interpersonal harmony in class has a moderating effect on the relationship between life events and dark triad, and student perceived interpersonal harmony in class regulates the first half of the path from life events to dark triad to prosocial behavior.Life events still have a significant negative predictive effect on dark triad when student perceived interpersonal harmony in class is low.The negative predictive effect of life events on dark triad is not significant when student perceived interpersonal harmony in class is high. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)Adolescent life events have a negative predictive effect on prosocial behavior. The higher the level of life event stress, the less prosocial behavior.(2)Dark triad plays a mediating role in the relationship between life events and prosocial behavior, that is,life events reduce prosocial behavior by enhancing the level of dark triad.(3)The individual’s bright personality can make the mediating role of dark personality between life events and prosocial behavior disappear.(4)The level of student perceived interpersonal harmony in class can significantly affect the mediating role of dark triad between life events and prosocial behavior. The research results are beneficial for schools and society to improve the overall performance of prosocial behavior among adolescents. In a stressful situation,it can be considered to suppress the negative impact of dark triad on prosocial behavior by improving their level of bright triad. It is also useful to strengthen intervention in the interpersonal harmony in class.Creating a good peer,teacher-student relationship, and class organization can play a good regulatory role in their dark triad. However, there are many individual and environmental factors that affect prosocial behavior. In addition to the factors mentioned in this study, there are many other factors that have not been included in the study. The regulatory role of other environmental factors can be further explored in depth in the future. In addition,a large sample survey can be carried out to analyze the role of class interpersonal harmony in a multi-level linear model to increase the accuracy of the research model II;Class experimental research can also be continued to confirm the reliability of the results of study 2. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | life events, prosocial behavior, dark triad, bright triad, interpersonal harmony | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
