| As the backbone of the literary retro movement in the Ming Dynasty,Li Panlong and the Seven Sons before and after him followed the example of the Sheng Tang Dynasty in their poetry and promoted the literary retro movement in the Ming poetry world,during which there were many people who imitated the poetry of the Seven Sons before and after them.However,in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,the shortcomings of the retro movement gradually emerged,as the traces of imitation of the Tang Dynasty in poetry were too heavy,leading to the poetry world into a situation of following the same rules,and poetry creation was once in a depressed state.During the development of poetics in the Qing Dynasty,poets began to criticize Li Panlong and the poems of the Seven Sons before and after him for the shortcomings of retro imitation in order to change the sluggishness of the poetry world.As an important advocate of the retro,Li Panlong was the main target of criticism by poets who opposed the retro.Especially,the early Qing poetic scholars criticized Li Panlong more fiercely,mainly criticizing the shortcomings of retro imitation in Li’s poetry.However,with the further understanding of poetics,the angle and attitude of Qing poets towards Li Panlong’s criticism also evolved and changed.By summarizing the criticism of Li Panlong’s poetry by the poets in the early Qing Dynasty,we can see that the criticism of Li Panlong by the poets in the early Qing Dynasty mainly focuses on the shortcomings of Li Panlong’s retrogressive thinking and his poetry imitation creation,while mainly criticizing the shortcomings of imitating the ancient in Li Panlong’s poetry creation,and also pointing out the problems of Li Panlong’s excessive pursuit of the words and metre of Tang poetry and the repetition of verses in the process of imitation,and also pointing out the problems in different genres of his poetry The problems of his poetry in different genres were also pointed out.The poetic scholars of the Qing dynasty,through reflecting on the poetry of the Ming dynasty,deeply explored the retro trend of the Ming dynasty and thus gained a deeper understanding of Li Panlong’s poetry.Li Panlong made great contributions to the poetic creation while insisting on the imitation of the ancient,and played a substantial role in the poetry of the Ming Dynasty,but most poets in the Qing Dynasty held a completely negative attitude toward Li Panlong because of his poetic imitation of the ancient.In the mid-Qing period,with the development of poetic theory,poets in the Qing Dynasty began to analyze Li Banlong’s poetry in a comprehensive way,and poetic scholars also criticized Li Banlong’s poetry in a more detailed and comprehensive way,pointing out the shortcomings of his poetry while acknowledging his achievements in poetry.Therefore,the criticism of Li Panlong in this period occupies an important place in the history of his studies.Through an in-depth study of Li Panlong’s criticism in the early Qing dynasty,we can reorganize the influence of Li Panlong’s poetry and the criticism of him by poetic scholars in the Qing dynasty in the context of the development of poetics in the Qing dynasty,study the significance of the criticism of Li Panlong’s poetry in the early Qing dynasty from the perspective of criticism,and find out the changes in the attitude of poetic scholars in the Qing dynasty toward his criticism and the reasons for them,which provides us with rich content for understanding the development and evolution of poetics in the Qing dynasty from the perspective of the history of criticism. |
