Along with the rapid development of the modern economy and society,the utilization and supply of energy have not only triggered a heated discussion among people but also drawn full attention of the international community.In this context,Chapter 4 in the book Raw Materials for Future Energy Supply is selected as the source text for the author to translate,aiming at introducing more information on types,current status and future supply trend of natural resources to domestic readers and enriching the research on the energy field at home.The translation report includes four parts: task description,task process,case analysis and the conclusion.It starts with an introduction of the content and textual features of the source text,then presents the translation objectives and significance,and summarizes the difficulties encountered during translation.Under the guidance of the Communicative Translation Theory and the Cohesion Theory,and with the purpose of providing help for other translators,the translator analyzes the typical cases in translation at lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and illustrates translation methods adopted in practice such as conversion,restructuring,omission,amplification,etc.
