| The sources of this report originate from the translating practice of the economic text Financial Markets and Economic Performance: A Model for Effective Decision Making.On the basis of a detailed analysis of the features of the original text,Vermeer’s Skopos theory is applied in analyzing the translating process.The translating methods and skills of economic texts are explored.English economic texts are characterized by a frequent use of terminology and a large number of sentences with complicated structure or passive voice.In addition,as far as the source text of this translating practice is concerned,it also contains numerous subheadings and attributive clauses.Therefore,the Chinese translation of English economic text is discussed thoroughly in this report,from both the lexical and syntactic dimension.In terms of vocabulary,three aspects are analyzed,which include headline vocabulary,terminology and nomenclature structure.The methods of literal translation and free translation are employed;while in terms of sentence,three perspectives are chosen,which include attributive clause,sentence with passive voice and complicated structure.The translating methods of using pre-modifiers and post-modifiers are adopted.The strategy of information restructuring is also used.Due to the various structural differences between English and Chinese,the corresponding methods and strategies are required in the translating process.Besides,the cultural differences between the two languages are properly taken into consideration.This report aims to further explore the translating methods and techniques of economic texts through the reflection of this translating practice.Meanwhile,it aims to bring professional translation to the researchers in China,through which the intention of disseminating the knowledge in the field of macroeconomics is realized.It is also beneficial to improving the efficiency of economic decision-making.In addition,it also provides valuable references for translators in the same field. |
