Death has long been considered a taboo topic,and we have been taught to avoid it.But death is an inviolable objective law,the news from time to time appear in natural disasters,heart-rending suicide and so on all make people sigh.Although "the true value of life" was a wise saying put forward by the ancients thousands of years ago,there was no relevant theory until the 1970 s when "life education" was put forward.As "life education" has been widely concerned worldwide,death education,as a subconcept derived from life education,has gradually entered the public’s vision.It is imperative to promote death education.According to the investigation and research,children over 3 years old can gradually realize the realistic concept of death and understand the realistic significance of death to a certain extent.From the perspective of children’s long-term goal of improving their mental health and building three perspectives,we should take the initiative to teach them the relevant knowledge of death in a positive attitude and objective way.Considering the current social situation that children know almost nothing about death education,this paper proposes to fill the vacancy of death education in the way of children’s picture books.First of all,children’s picture books,as a common children’s books,are one of the basic ways for children to acquire knowledge,and children are easy to acquire knowledge through reading picture books.Secondly,picture books can enhance children’s perceptual ability from the two dimensions of image and text,which is conducive to their later mental development and the construction of three perspectives.Finally,through reading picture books together,the parent-child relationship can be enhanced,children’s fear of death can be reduced,and the value of life can be realized from picture stories.This paper makes a comprehensive use of literature research,interdis ciplinary research,analysis and comparison,and market research analysis and collation,taking children’s picture books with the theme of death as t he research object,and starting from the perspective of image narration,t o analyze and study children’ picture books with the theme of death.First of all,this paper sorted out the research background,summarized the res earch status of image narration and children’s picture books with the them e of death,clarified the research purpose and significance of the subject,a nd clarified the research methods of the subject.Secondly,based on child ren’s cognitive theory of death,this paper introduces some problems exist ing in the original children’s picture books with the theme of death in the image narrative.Then,starting from the image narration of children’s pict ure books and taking children’s picture books with the theme of death as an example,this paper analyzes the narrative structure of children’s pictur e books with the theme of death,the common ways of connecting picture s with pictures,the interactive relationship between images and texts,and the narrative perspective of picture books,so as to help picture books bet ter establish the story context and enhance the image narration ability,so as to achieve the purpose of narration.After that,Roland Barthes interpre ts narrative works at three levels,namely,functional level,action level an d narrative level.The elements of image narrative design of children’s pic ture books with the theme of death are extracted from the study.Through questionnaire survey,people’s reading needs for this kind of picture book s are clarified,so as to determine the design direction of image narrative o f children’s picture books with the theme of death.Finally,based on the t hree levels,at the functional level,the visual image elements of children’s picture books with the theme of death are extracted,and the picture book s with the theme of death are classified according to different themes.In t he action level: from the perspective of participation and emotional intera ction to clarify children’s reading preferences;At the narrative level: It pr ovides more possibilities for the creation of this kind of picture books fro m the two dimensions of time and space,in order to provide a certain val ue for the research of children’s picture books.
