A Translation Report On Advances In Renewable Hydrogen And Other Sustainable Energy Carriers(Excerpts)

The demand for translation of related energy technology texts,especially energy technology papers,has increased.The author finds that there is currently less research on the translation of hydrogen and other renewable energies under the guidance of theory in China.Keeping up with the hot topics of current affairs,the author participated in the English-Chinese practice on the excerpt of Advances in Renewable Hydrogen and Other Sustainable Energy carriers compiled by the foreign publisher Springer.Based on Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation theories,this English-Chinese translation practice report aims to analyze the problems I encountered in the translation process as well as the solutions,reflect on the shortcomings,and hopefully provide guidance for translating texts related to energy transition,renewable hydrogen development and other sustainable energy developments.Technical texts are characterized by precise language and rigor logic.The English-Chinese translation report consists of four parts.It focuses on the problems encountered by the author in translation.The author takes a large number of relevant examples and summarize the problems encountered in the translation of scientific and technical papers at three levels: vocabulary,syntax and discourse.The author also provides corresponding solutions and translation strategies.In terms of vocabulary,it is important to increase bilingualism and integrate the content of the text to ensure that the vocabulary is translated accurately;in terms of syntax,by applying the knowledge of translation theories related to scientific and technical texts,translators should articulate smoothly and make flexible choices to ensure syntactic coherence;in terms of discourse,we should combine online resources and translation theories,with critical thinking,to understand the logical structure of the discourse,ensure fluency of the discourse and improve the reading experience of readers.Through this English-Chinese translation practice,the author not only improved the quality of the translation but also became rich in knowledge related to the field of renewable energy.With the help of computer-assisted translation software,the efficiency of translation was improved;at the same time,the accuracy of translation practice could be improved by searching for parallel texts due to the strict logic of scientific and technical texts.
