| With the rapid development of information and communication technology, the translation industry has updated its requirements for translators.Terminology issues are present in every translation project, and the terminological competence has become a necessary professional quality for translators.Terminology management,as a part of the terminological competence,is an indispensable component of modern translation project management. Therefore, the author selected Interdisciplinarity and Languages, which introduces the latest developments, professional communication, and cuttingedge information communication technology in language teaching and translation fields, and proposes many suggestions for translation teaching in higher education. This translation project can provide theoretical guidance for terminological competence training of translation major students in China, and also enable more translators to understand modern terminology management techniques, pointing out a direction for translators to improve their terminology ability. This translation report is based on the cognitive construal mechanism, using five cognitive dimensions of specificity, perspective, scope, background, and salience to solve translation issues related to academic texts and proposed effective translation strategies. It is found out that it can be effectively applied to translation of academic texts. The translator can solve ellipsis in text by using words of decreased level of specificity or maintaining the ellipsis according to specific goals after correctly understanding the content and function of the omitted sentence. To translate inanimatesubject sentences,it is important for translators to keep the author and target readers“off stage” to understand a particular objective scene, achieving maximum subjectivity. The meaning of the polysemy can be determined by its scope, which can be inferred from the context and collocation. To accurately convey the meaning of a new term, translators need background knowledge to understand terminology and provide enough background for target readers to reduce their cognitive load.To handle long and complex sentences,we need to identify key information in complex sentences and then emphasize these important information in different ways, such as putting key information in the end of the sentence, splitting sentences, and using four-character words to attract reader attention. To summarize, the translation process is not only a linguistic form conversion, but also a cognitive operation at the conceptual level. The translator needs to pay attention to the the cognitive operation at the conceptual level in order to clear barriers for target readers achieve the “construal-equivalence” between the original text and target text. |
