Nowadays,China and even the world are gradually increasing their attention to children’s education.As one of the very important learning tools in children’s cognitive learning process and as a bridge to open children’s understanding of the world,picture books have a great impact on children’s physical and mental development.According to the author’s research findings,from the perspective of the output ratio of picture books,there is still a certain advantage in the output of original children’s picture books in China compared to the import volume.However,through the author’s research,it was found that children tend to choose picture books more than imported books,while domestic picture books are relatively few.This phenomenon reflects the true choices of the audience and consumer groups,reflecting the relatively lagging design quality of domestic children’s picture books in China,And this phenomenon is not conducive to the inheritance and dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.Therefore,it is urgent to strengthen the research on children’s picture books in China.Firstly,based on the relevant literature and literature reviewed,as well as the analysis of classic picture books,this article finds that the occurrence of the above phenomenon is due to the lack of theoretical research on children’s picture books in China,resulting in some children’s picture books not being able to grasp the essence of picture books.Secondly,according to research on excellent classic picture books,the essence of children’s picture books is a carrier aimed at conveying story content and achieving educational significance.Therefore,in order to enhance the dissemination effect of children’s picture books,this article will start from a child-centered perspective and enhance the visual narrative of each part of the picture book.Combining interdisciplinary knowledge,such as audiovisual language and film techniques,with practical cases to analyze the design strategies of children’s picture books.Finally,based on the design strategy of children’s picture books,summarize the design methods suitable for children’s picture books.To contribute to the visual expression field of children’s picture books,in order to better assist in the design of original children’s picture books in China.
