A Report On The C-E Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of 2021 ZGC Parallel Forum:The Second Global Forum On Science And Life Health

The spread of COVID-19 has had a far-reaching impact on the world.In this context,countries around the world are committed to developing COVID-19 vaccines to fight against the virus,and the second global forum on science and life health of the zhongguancun forum in 2021 was such an attempt to share the five routes of vaccine research and development that existed around the world.Since the forum involved conversation and interaction between the panel and the audience,and among the panel members,contrastive pragmatics was applied to the mock simultaneous interpreting.The analysis focuses on the pragmatic problems in the interpreting process between Chinese and English,and analyzes its causes based on the theory of contrastive pragmatics.The report falls into five chapters.The first chapter begins with a brief introduction of task.Chapter 2 gives a brief introduction to the main contents of the forum and sets out the translation quality standards.The third chapter presents the process of the simulated practice in three parts:before,during and after interpreting,and outlines a contrastive framework between Chinese and English according to contrastive framework between English and Chinese made by Juliane House.Chapter 4 analyses specific cases in light of contrastive pragmatics,and sums up the following findings in Chapter 5:(1)Contrastive pragmatics is applicable in interpreting events like a forum where communication involves conversations and interaction.(2)In interpreting practice,the accurate translation of the pragmatic meaning of the original text is the key factor to ensure the effect of communication,based on a framework of pragmatic dimensions.(3)Interpreting techniques such as shift from active to passive voice,personal to impersonal,change of word order,restructuring of sentence structure,and abstraction of concrete utterances can help to achieve pragmatic purposes in interpreting.It is hoped that this report could provide reference and experience for future translators and researchers.
