| The English Curriculum Standards for Ordinary High School(2017 Edition,2020revision)clearly points out that the English reading curriculum should reflect the breadth and depth of reading content,which puts forward new requirements for the classroom teaching of high school English reading.The concept of deep learning can help students realize the connection and construction of knowledge,transfer and application as well as the internalization and sublimation of emotion,so as to improve the depth of English reading class.In addition,classroom questioning is an effective means of teaching,so the combination of deep learning concept and classroom questioning is helpful to improve the efficiency of reading teaching and learning.Through the method of investigation and classroom observation,this study takes some high school English teachers and students in a middle school in Chongqing as the objects of investigation,and discusses the following questions: the existing problems in high school English reading class under the concept of deep learning,and how to put forward improvement strategies based on the characteristics and concepts of deep learning.Through the analysis of the data from questionnaires,classroom observations and teacher interviews,it is concluded that the following problems exist in English teachers’ questioning in reading class under the concept of deep learning: the concept of deep learning is not popular enough,and teachers’ understanding is not systematic and comprehensive;Teachers’ implementation of the concept of deep learning is not in place.Some teachers are stuck in their ways and do not want to innovate.Some teachers innovate for the sake of innovation and ignore the original intention of asking questions.Because of the unitary object of teachers’ questions,some students have no chance to speak.Short waiting time and lack of deep learning mechanism;Teachers answer general,lack of pertinence;Teachers’ questions ignore the sublimation of students’ emotional field and focus on knowledge understanding.Based on the concept and characteristics of deep learning,this study gives some suggestions and strategies for the problems in the current stage.First,schools and teachers should attach importance to the connection between classroom questioning and deep learning from the perspective of concept.Secondly,teachers should reasonably design the types of questions to stimulate students’ thinking.Thirdly,teachers need to innovate the way of asking questions and improve students’ participation.Reform the way you answer and focus on the thought process.Finally,teachers should pay attention to students’ emotional experience and establish their core values.The author hopes to further optimize questions in high school English reading class through strategies. |
