Artificial intelligence empowers social and economic development and has become a novel driver for technology improvement, industry optimization, and productivity enhancement. The source text of this translation practice is Human-Centered AI(Chapters 11-17).This informative text analyzes the development of human-centered artificial intelligence and interprets future innovation-driven artificial intelligence design that empowers mankind. This translation practice is guided by Nida’s functional equivalence theory. The theory of functional equivalence emphasizes that translation should not be limited by form and the target text should strive to achieve functional equivalence in information transmission. The translator sorts out typical linguistic features of informational texts at lexical, structural and discourse levels.Several key translation difficulties such as abbreviations, technical terms and compound complex sentences are identified. In order to align with the translation purpose and information delivery accuracy, the translator uses key translation techniques such as restructuring and addition.Through this translation practice, the translator has obtained a clearer interpretation of the linguistic and discourse features of informational texts,a more in-depth analysis of the similarities and differences between Chinese and English informative texts, and has gained stronger confidence in employing appropriate English-Chinese translation techniques for such translation tasks.
