A Report On The E-C Translation Of Certified Interpreters’ Subjective Experience Of Psycho-Affective Factors In Court Interpreting

This translation practice report is based upon the English-Chinese translation practice of the academic paper “Certified Interpreters’ Subjective Experience of Psycho-Affective Factors in Court Interpreting”,which is the supervisor’s project.The thesis is rich in content,clear in structure,and has specific academic research significance and practical importance of guidance,providing ideas for court interpreting practice and the training and selection of court interpreters in China.What is discussed in the paper includes terms and complex sentences,so determining appropriate translations for terms,dealing with complex sentences,and skillfully combining translation principles and practice are the key points and difficulties of the translation and research.This report is divided into six parts: first,the introduction to the translation task;second,the analysis of academic translation principles;third,the presentation of the translation process;fourth,the analysis of information retrieval and specific operation methods from three perspectives: term,Internet,and academic retrieval;these parts are followed by a clear and detailed case study under the guidance of Sun Zhouxing’s academic translation principles of “the principle of context”,“the principle of consistency” and “the principle of readability”;the last part summarizes significant findings,limitations,and suggestions for further research.During the translation process,the author not only deepened the understanding of the original text and presented a more rigorous and accurate translation but also improved the information retrieval ability and further understood the significance of academic translation principles in guiding translation practice.Hopefully,this report could be helpful for translators of the same kind of text and alike.
