| This report is based on the E-C translation practice of Chapters 5 to 7 of Cues:Master the Secret Language of Charismatic Communication.The book aims to impart information clues,techniques,and methods for perfect communication,using an affable language and offering rich content that reflects the author’s years of research and provides strong practical and guiding significance.This report elaborates on how to build the target readers’ identification in view of the target language context and summarizes the problems encountered when translating inspirational texts and their solutions.One of the major challenges that the translator faces is how to accurately convey the inherent ideas of the source text and make them acceptable and recognized by the target readers.Identification of new rhetoric theory provides a theoretical perspective for solving this problem.The report outlines that there are three basic ways to achieve specific identification: identification by joint interests,identification by antithesis and identification at an unconscious level.In the case analysis,the translator provides examples from multiple perspectives to illustrate the ways of building identification by using free translation method and translation techniques such as adaptation,unification,and transformation,while emphasizing the construction of audience’s identification in terms of ethos,pathos,logos,focus,opposition,qualification,presence and rhetorical screens.The translation practice and the report writing not only greatly improve the translator’s ability but also offer reasonable solutions to related translation problems,providing a reference for the establishment of identification in the translation of similar texts.Furthermore,the report helps Chinese readers further understand and master the secrets of charismatic communication.It also provides a reference and guidance for the development and improvement of relevant research in China. |
