Coherence Reconstruction In Translation Of English Informative Texts

The translation report is based on the translation practice of the first two chapters of the Natural Remedy Book for Women.The text focuses on the diseases that affect women and how women themselves can cure these diseases through natural vitamins and minerals,herbal remedies,naturopathy,acupressure and so on.The purpose is to provide a reference for female readers.This is a popular science book with lots of informative and technical terms.The function of the text and the purpose of the translation is mainly to convey information,but also to have an infectious function.Due to the differences between Chinese and English expressions and cultural backgrounds,the key issue in this translation practice is to realize the coherence of popular science texts.Based on the coherence theory,the author selects 21 typical cases for analysis,and summarizes some translation strategies and methods for achieving coherence from three levels:grammatical coherence,semantic coherence and pragmatic coherence,with the help of various translation techniques and methods.The translation practice and translation report writing enable the translator to have a further understanding of how to translate such popular science texts and how to realize the coherence in translating informative texts.This translation practice is of great help to the translator in her future translation work,attempting to provide a reference for the translation and research of similar texts.
