Yunnan,a cultural mecca with ten thousand kinds of customs.Due to geographical environment and historical reasons,it has created a rich and colorful folk music culture.The creation of contemporary Chinese chorus is rooted in the ethnic culture,and the 25 minority folk music in Yunnan is the inexhaustible and precious material for composers.Liu Xiaogeng as a native Yunnan composer,in his Yunnan choral works is deposited his love for this land.He has a unique creative thinking of folk music,understanding chorus as a vocal symphony,with super structural ability and self-harmonic language,with foreign musical elements and creative techniques into the creation of folk music,so that his Yunnan choral works have ethnic characteristics,times and diversity.This paper selects four choruses from Yunnan Echo--Xiaogeng’s Choral Works,namely Into Beauty,into Magic,Bamboo Tower Dream,The Moon will gets married Tonight and Beautiful White Clouds as the key analysis of the first chapter.The other two are the new works in recent years,Drunk in the Hometown of Clouds and Meet Only with Good Luck.As the second chapter analysis,it mainly analyzes Liu Xiaogeng’s new thoughts and new ways of creation on the road of chorus in recent years.These six works represent six different ethnic groups respectively,focusing on the analysis of which musical materials of ethnic minorities were used by the composer,how they were integrated into the creation,and the embodiment of modern techniques in the works.The last chapter is the author’s thoughts on the compilation and creation of two Henan folk songs.By analyzing Liu Xiaogeng’s Yunnan folk song chorus,the author applies the inspiration to his own creation in order to improve the ability and purpose of creation.
