An Analysis On The Poetic Beauty Of Schumann’s Piano Suite Forest Scenes

Known as the “poet of music”,Schumann and his music and life are more like dreams and poems.Combined romantic poetic fantasy with his sensitivity,Schmann’s compositions have demonstrated a unique style.For Schumann,expressing poetry through music had been a lifelong goal.Forest Scenes is Schumann’s last piano suite.Underneath this seemingly simple and fresh melodic fabric lies the illusion of free and hot emotions,and poetic brilliance shines everywhere.Based on the social background and Schumann’s mental state in his later years,this dissertation aims to analyze the poetic beauty of his works in terms of poetic connotation,melodic form and texture.Moreover,this paper discusses the inner connections not only between music and poetry,but also lyrics and melodies,which leads readers to enter Schmann’s musical world filled with poetry and fantasy and provides a reference for the performers to correctly express the“poetic feelings” of the work.
