A Research On Shigu Of Xuguangya

Xuguangya is a work imitating and continuating Er Ya,written by Liu Can,a scholar in the Qing Dynasty.“Xu” means to supplement."Guang” means to collect widely.“Ya” means Erya.It is actually continuation of Er Ya,which aims to supplement Er Ya.The academic circles paid little attention to Xuguangya,and characterized it as a useful book for exegesis.It was regrettable that the source of the entries could not be marked.Therefore,this paper mainly discusses and studies Shigu of Xuguangya from three perspectives of “regret”,"continuation of Er Ya” and “usefulness”,to make new discoveries.The new discoveries include the source of the entries,the relationship between word meanings and the analysis of words,as well as the features and deficiencies of the chapter.In view of “regret”,this paper explores the source of the entries in Shigu of Xuguangya,and finds that it is from the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty,and the time span is large.At the same time,it has an era bias,mostly collecting ancient annotations from the pre-Qin,Han,Wei and Jin periods,and after the Wei and Jin Dynasties,the Sui and Tang Dynasties flourished.The source of the collected entries is wide,focusing on the teachings of the classics,the interpretation of the Zishu,the annotations of the history books,the interpretation of the ci and fu,and the theory of the word book.In order to investigate the semantic system of Shigu of Xuguangya,we study the meaning relationship of words in its exegesis from the three units of single excerpt,excerpt and excerpt group,and found that its semantic relationship is diverse.By comparing the different editions and annotations of Er ya,as well as comparing the the same font in the ancient books,it is found that there are many variants of ancient book including Er ya and Shijing,in Shigu of Xuguangya.These variants are formed due to the relationship of word pronunciation,word meanings and fonts.In terms of quantity,there are the most variants formed due to the relationship of word pronunciation,followed by the relationship between word meaning and the least font relationship.Taking the Jiaqing version of Xuguangya as the base,and referring to its Daoguang version and combining with the literature corpus to organize and analyze,it is found that some words in the Jiaqing version of Shigu of Xuguangya are difficult to understand because of writing habits,the lack of words and the misunderstanding of copying.This paper tries to explore and explain these words.On the basis of the former parts,this paper summarizes the features and deficiencies of Shigu of Xuguangya,trying to make an objective description and evaluation.
