The outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in the world has not only affected the people’s lives,work and study all over the world,but also brought great impact and challenge to teaching Chinese as a foreign language,Confucius institutes in the world can not carry out teaching activities normally,the Confucius Institute of Burapha University of Thailand,where the author teaches,also has to adopt the online teaching mode.For more than a year,I have been specifically responsible for the teaching of elementary listening and speaking,which is also one of the reasons for promoting the cost research.This study systematically investigated and studied the online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course of Chinese as a foreign language at the Confucius Institute of Burapha University of Thailand,this paper mainly made a comparative analysis of the offline teaching and online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course,and involved the offline teaching strategies of listening and speaking course,listening course and speaking course of TCFL.Firstly,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey based on online teaching practice among students and interviews with teachers.Through statistics and analysis,we find out the problems existing in the online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course: teachers’ level includes teachers’ online teaching ability and quality,questioning and feedback,teaching methods and practice methods;students’ level includes students’ learning enthusiasm and learning effect;the teaching content level includes pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,text comprehension and oral expression;other level includes network status,selection of teaching software and teaching materials,classroom atmosphere and classroom management,performance assessment,and analyzed the causes of the problems.On this basis,this paper put forward five online teaching strategies for elementary listening and speaking course: making clear online classroom rules for elementary listening and speaking course,choosing online teaching software suitable for elementary listening and speaking course,increasing the proportion of listening practice in elementary listening and speaking online class,paying attention to the improvement of interest in elementary listening and speaking online class,using network resources to train Chinese listening and speaking ability and assist online teaching.These will improve the teaching effect of online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course of Chinese as a foreign language.Due to the limitations of objective conditions and the author’s personal ability,this study has several deficiencies: first,because this paper only focused on the online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course of Burapha University of Thailand,there are problems of insufficient scope and strong representation;secondly,the effectiveness of the online teaching strategy proposed in this paper needs to be tested in practice,the author has not had time to carry out a long-term follow-up investigation.The development of this research has theoretical and practical significance for TCFL online teaching.In theory,through the analysis of the problems existing in the online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course,this paper put forward practical teaching strategies,which can not only enrich the theoretical research of elementary listening and speaking course of TCFL,but also enrich the theoretical research of TCFL online teaching,and fill the current research gap in this aspect.The practical significance is to improve the online teaching of elementary listening and speaking course in Confucius Institute of Burapha University of Thailand,and provide reference for the Chinese teachers and volunteers who will carry out online teaching in the future.
