| With the new epidemic ravaging the world and many offline Chinese language teaching efforts unable to run normally, online teaching has become an effective solution for teachers and learners alike to address the problem of "stopping classes and learning".The dramatic shift in the learning environment and learning style from the traditional face-to-face real classroom to the new online virtual classroom is certainly a new challenge for overseas children.Under such changes, learning adaptability will become the primary problem faced by learners, which will not only affect the efficiency of learners’ Chinese learning, but also affect the sustainable development of online Chinese language education. This study focuses on overseas children’s adaptation to online one-to-one Chinese learning.Through questionnaires and classroom observations,we understand the current situation of learners’ adaptation, find out the problems, and finally put forward corresponding suggestions in order to improve overseas children’s adaptation to online one-to-one Chinese learning. This study consists of five main parts. The first part is the introduction, including research background, research significance, review of domestic and international research, and research methodology. In the second part, based on the existing studies,we redefine the concepts related to overseas children, adaptation and acculturation, elaborate the relevant theoretical foundations, and divide overseas children’s online one-to-one Chinese learning acculturation into two aspects: internal acculturation and external acculturation. The third part was a questionnaire survey and classroom observation. The questionnaire survey consists of two main parts, the first part is the basic information of students, and the second part covers the topics of both internal adaptation(adaptation of learning attitude, physical and mental adaptation, and adaptation of learning ability)and external adaptation(adaptation of learning environment, adaptation of learning technology, and learning model adaptation). The fourth part is the survey analysis. In this study, the results of the questionnaire survey were statistically analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software to analyze the adaptation of overseas children’s online one-to-one Chinese learning, including the overall adaptation, internal adaptation and external adaptation, and the adaptation differences among learners from different backgrounds. The fifth section summarizes the adaptation problems of online one-to-one Chinese learning for overseas children, and finally proposes measures and suggestions for the problems at the learner level, the family support level, the learning platform level and the teacher level.Through the above investigation and analysis, this study finds that overseas children’s overall adaptation to online one-to-one Chinese learning is better, among which, external adaptation is better than internal adaptation, and the problems in internal adaptation are mainly poor physical, mental and learning ability adaptation; In the analysis of variance, learners’ online Chinese learning hours reached significant differences in terms of learning environment, but age, gender,Chinese language level, and the learning platform used did not differ significantly in each dimension. In view of the above analysis results, this paper tries to make suggestions for improving overseas children’s online one-to-one Chinese learning adaptation ability, hoping to provide some references for Chinese learners. |
