The number and variety of international Chinese language education textbooks have been fruitful in recent years, but few of them are truly adapted to the overseas teaching environment and are of high impact. The current direction of textbook construction has shifted to "localization".The localization of second language teaching materials can be achieved not only by conforming to local social and cultural customs, taking into account the characteristics of learners’ mother tongue, conforming to the local education system, but also by borrowing ideas from second language teaching materials from the target language countries. This essay compares and contrasts the Chinese language textbook "New Practical Chinese Reader·1"(Russian)with "The Way to Russia·1",the Russian language textbook. And I hope to provide some new ideas for the construction of "localization" of international Chinese language education. The comparative analysis of the two textbooks is carried out in four aspects to analyze the similarities and differences between the two textbooks and their strengths and weaknesses, the overall structure, exercises, illustrations and cultural factors.Based on the above analysis,my finding is that "New Practical Chinese Reader·1" is not rich enough in exercises, the number and the layout of illustrations is limited, the cultural exchange between Russia and China is lacking and the cultural factors are not sufficiently "localized",the pertinence to Russia is not enough. Therefore,we believe that the construction of "localized" textbooks not only needs to consider the actual national conditions of other countries, the actual situation of the students, but also take into account the differences in the way of thinking and cultural perspectives of the two countries. This essay believes that some highlights of Russian textbooks can be absorbed in the compilation of textbooks in the future, and more attention should be paid to the design of exercises, arrangement of illustrations, and cultural choices,so as to achieve comparison and reflection, tolerance and reference, and use Russian thinking to improve textbooks, integrate Russian characteristics and culture, promote students’ communication in a real environment, and learn more about Chinese culture through cultural comparison.
