| The use of the separable words has always been a difficult task for Chinese learners because it can be combined with various grammatical points to form a rich variety of extended forms.In this paper,we use textbooks as the basis for a survey of students’ and teachers’ usage and teaching of verb-object separable words.This paper selects the widely used and newly revised edition of the Chinese Course series as the textual target for the teaching of verb-object separable words,and compares it with the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education.Based on previous studies,the number of verb-object separable words and their extended forms were counted,and it was found that the writing of verb-object separable words in the Chinese Course has problems such as ambiguous word annotation,confusion of word classes,single word species,and uneven word frequency.Based on the examination of the textbook,20 verb-object separable words were selected,and a survey was conducted on 106 international students from 11 countries on the use of verb-object separable words.It was found that the intermediate and advanced foreign students could correctly distinguish the common verb-object clitics,and it was verified that the foreign students did master five verb-object separable words such as "took a bath,take a walk" and their extended forms.In terms of the use of verb-object separable words,foreign students avoided using some of the extended forms.In the survey of teachers’ teaching,it was found that most of the teachers had a basic understanding of clitics and a good knowledge of the common verb-object separable words,but they neglected the verb-object separable words that could be used with an object,and they did not pay enough attention to the teaching of verbobject separable words and their extended forms.The reasons for this may be the lack of solid research on the basic theory of clitics,the contradiction between intelligible output and correct output,and the wide distribution of clitics,which is not easy for teachers to explain.Finally,this paper proposes to improve the recurrence rate of each word type of verb-object separable words and the recurrence rate of verb-object separable words in their disassociated forms,and to supplement the practice of verb-object separable words in their spelling points.The teachers be suggested that they should improve their own knowledge and teaching level,clarify the necessity of teaching the extended forms of verb-object words,pay attention to the mistakes of international students in the process of expression and give timely feedback,and pay attention to the application of teaching strategies. |
