Study On The Relationship Among Social Adjustment,Positive Psychological Characters And Parental Emotional Warmth,and Solution-Focused Group Counseling

Primary school is a key stage for children to learn social adaptation.Good social adaptation reflects the level of children’s mental health.At present,there is a certain degree of maladjustment among school-age children,among which about 20%-42% are mildly maladjusted,about 7%-12% are severely maladjusted.Among the factors affecting children’s social adaptation,the importance of parental emotional warmth is self-evident.Parental emotional warmth plays an important role in promoting children’s behavioral adaptation,also can reduce negative psychological and problem behaviors.In addition,social adjustment is also affected by children’s positive psychological characters.Positive psychological characters can positively predict students’ mental health level,learning engagement,and physical and mental coordinated development and so on,which can better promote children’s adaptation and development.Previous studies have the following shortcomings: First,there are few studies on the interaction of positive psychological characters(an individual factor)and parental emotional warmth(an external factor)on social adaptation,and the specific influence mode is still to be explored.Secondly,the training of children’s social adjustment is mainly in the form of mental health class and group counseling,but the effect of using focus solution-focused group counseling to intervene in the social adjustment of senior primary school students remains to be proved.In summary,this study designed two studies to investigate the factors influencing children’s social adjustment and the intervention research to improve children’s social adjustment.The purpose of the first study is to investigate the current situation and characteristics of social adjustment,positive psychological characters and parental emotional warmth of senior pupils and the theoretical relationship among them.A total of 798 senior students in primary school were surveyed with the Social Adaption Scale,the EMBU Parenting Style Scale,and Positive Psychological Scale.The results showed that:(1)the social adjustment,positive psychological characters and parental emotional warmth were all above the medium level.(2)Both positive psychological characters and parental emotional warmth are significantly positively correlated with social adjustment,and can significantly predict social adjustment.(3)Parental emotional warmth played a regulated variable between positive psychological characters and social adjustment.Another study aims to investigate the intervention effect of positive psychological characters group counseling on social adjustment.A total of 56 subjects were selected to carry out eight focus solution-focused positive psychological characters group counseling.Qualitative interviews were also used to explore the improvement effect of group counseling.The results showed that: for experimental group,after the solution-focused group counseling,the score in the post-test was significantly higher than that in the pre-test,and the score was significantly higher than control group.The following conclusions are reached in this study:(1)Positive psychological characters and parental emotional warmth are important factors affecting children’s social adaptation.(2)When parents’ emotional warmth level is low,children’s social adaptation is more likely to benefit from the improvement of positive psychological characters.(3)Solution-focused group counseling in children’s positive psychological characters has good effect in improving children’s positive psychological characters and social adaptation.
