Lingqiu is located at the southeast end of Datong City and the northeast edge of Shanxi. It is an important node for the combination of nomadic culture and farming culture.Since the introduction of Buddhism during the time of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty,Lingqiu Buddhism has flourished day by day.In the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were many Lingqiu Buddhist temples and many inscriptions, which to a certain extent reflected the development of Lingqiu during this period, and provided important inscription materials for studying the development of Buddhism in Lingqiu County.Based on the Buddhist inscriptions in the Ming and Qing dynasties in Lingqiu, this paper will combine the knowledge of history, archaeology and other disciplines and the research results of scholars on the inscriptions, and conduct a special study on the Buddhist inscriptions in the Ming and Qing dynasties in Lingqiu County through fieldwork, double evidence and comparative research, namely: an overview of Buddhist inscriptions in the Ming and Qing dynasties in Lingqiu County,a discussion on the Buddhist inscription system in the Ming and Qing dynasties in Lingqiu County,a Buddhist inscription system in Lingqiu County during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the interaction between Buddhism and local society in Lingqiu County.Through in-depth research on Buddhist inscriptions in Lingqiu County during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the cultural connotation of the county was excavated,in order to provide valuable research materials for the local history of Lingqiu County. This paper takes the inscriptions included in the "Sanjin Stone Carving Daquan Datong City Lingqiu County Volume" and "Sanjin Stone Carving Daquan Datong City Lingqiu County Volume Continuation"(hereinafter referred to as "Lingqiu County Volume" and "Continuation Volume")as the research object, through field investigation and classification and statistical collation,it can be seen that the Lingqiu inscription data is rich, mostly concentrated in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are 50 inscriptions marking the specific location of Buddhist inscriptions in the Ming and Qing dynasties, involving 26 monasteries, and there are inscriptions in the three towns and nine townships of Lingqiu,of which the number of Shangzhai Township,Luoshuihe Township,Baiyatai Township and Duyu Township is relatively large, and the number of other townships is scattered. The monasteries with a large number of Buddhist inscriptions are mainly concentrated in Quhui Temple,Jueshan Temple and Deng Feng Temple, most of which are inscriptions of temple construction or rebuilding and merit and almsgiving, and a small number belong to field land deeds, such as the "Longquan Temple Alms and Purchase Real Estate Stele" in the 47th year of Qianlong.Judging from the collation data, the inscriptions are mostly vertical steles; The shape is more common in flat heads and round heads, and there are more heads in the Ming Dynasty; The writing style is mainly based on the original book, and the writing format is uniform. In addition to reflecting the current social situation and the rise and fall of religion at that time, the inscription materials also convey the value of educating the people and comforting the soul in the inscription.
