The special environment of the Three Gorges and the primitive culture of the native people are the foundation of the Three Gorges culture.Through the exchange and collision between Jingchu culture and Baren culture,a diversified and distinctive Three Gorges culture form has been formed. In the long history of the development process, accumulated rich human history civilization, created unique cultural protection units cluster in the Three Gorges Reservoir area. The construction of the Three Gorges water conservancy Project has changed the natural environment of the region and affected the local cultural inheritance. The occurrence conditions of a large number of cultural relic protection units have been damaged, and the value protection and development of cultural protection units are facing difficulties. Therefore,it is of positive significance to understand the development status of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area and explore their protection practices from the perspective of historical development. From the perspective of spatial analysis, based on 26 districts and counties in the Three Gorges Reservoir area,359 key cultural relic protection units, through literature analysis and field investigation and other research methods, sort out and analyze the current situation of cultural preservation units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, including the types, structure and characteristics of cultural preservation units.Through mathematical statistics, the time distribution characteristics of cultural preservation units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area are explored.Arc GIS spatial analysis tool is used to study the spatial distribution characteristics of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area from the overall spatial distribution and spatial distribution in different historical periods. At the same time, based on the current situation and spatial and temporal distribution of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, the paper analyzes the influencing factors of their spatial distribution by referring to relevant research results. Finally, the paper analyzes the problems existing in the process of protection and development of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area and explores effective protection and development strategies. Here are the key findings.(1)Current situation of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. The cultural preservation units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area are divided into five categories: ancient sites, ancient tombs, ancient buildings, cave temples and stone carvings, modern and important historical sites and representative buildings. Its cultural preservation units have formed a level structure mainly at provincial level, supplemented by national level and other levels, mainly at modern and important historical sites and representative buildings, ancient buildings, ancient ruins, ancient tombs, grotto temples and stone carvings. The cultural preservation units in this area are characterized by distinct regions, similar isomorphism, rich types, complete sequences, green, ancient red and mutual dependence.(2)Time distribution characteristics of cultural protection units in reservoir area.Taking the Song and Yuan Dynasties as the watershed, the number of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area in different historical periods showed fluctuating characteristics. As far as the five types of cultural relic protection units are concerned, their distribution has strong epochal characteristics.(3)Spatial distribution characteristics of cultural protection units in reservoir area. The cultural relics protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area are spatially clustered, forming one main core area and three secondary core areas. In each historical period, the cultural relics protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area showed two distribution states of agglomeration and uniform distribution, and presented three different density distributions, including "a core area + several sub-dense areas",and several small gathering areas, uniform distribution.(4)The distribution of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area is obviously affected by natural factors such as topography, climate conditions, water system environment, economic development, urban evolution, population migration and other human factors. This paper points out the problems existing in the process of protection and exploitation of cultural protection units in the Three Gorges Reservoir area and puts forward the countermeasures of exploitation and utilization, that is,to build the geographic information database and realize the data sharing.Attach importance to the protection of authenticity and tap the cultural potential;Strengthen ecological and environmental restoration and build a solid foundation for cultural heritage protection;Promote cultural and tourism industry integration with the help of cultural and tourism carriers;Synergize national strategies and strengthen cultural exchanges.
