With the continuous development and progress of technology and culture,the overall content,subject matter and aesthetics of animated films have shown a trend of diversification.More and more ideologies are combined with animated movies,presenting a more profound aesthetic significance.In the past,people’s understanding of animated films focused on the low and superficial,which led to the neglect of some aesthetically deep animated films,resulting in the concentration of low and narrow structure of animated films and the lack of creative innovation.Gothic animation film is one of the animation film types with aesthetic depth and strong representative colors.Gothic animation film "flattened" the same type of live-action films of horror,violence and gore,misanthropy and decadence.In its place is the grotesque "black humor" and the ultimate "black romance" to explore the meaning of life and death of the profound philosophy of the type of work.In the world of Gothic animation films,its unique space,narrative,imagery,and ugly and comical characters present us with the complexity of human nature in life and death,yin and yang,and "de-dull" the philosophy of life with a plot full of reversals and color contrasts.Although many scholars have focused their attention on the field of Gothic culture and art and Gothic animation films,they are more concerned with a particular Gothic animation film,the works of Gothic animation directors,and Gothic animation films of stop-motion type.This article,however,aims to explore more specifically the value of the unique space as a narrative site,the construction of narrative to space,and the perception and experience of spatial narrative in Gothic animation films in terms of creative application and cultural representations conveyed under the spatial narrative perspective,and to study the spatial application,stylistic characteristics,morphological structure,and deeper meanings in Gothic animation films.The article illustrates the aesthetic implications and chic experience between Gothic animation and spatial narrative from five aspects.The first part is the introduction.It focuses on the background,significance and innovation of the study,literature review,and the purpose and design of the study.The second part is the first chapter of the thesis,which is also the general starting point.Starting from the image construction of Gothic architecture in animated films,it analyzes the inheritance and subversion under the juxtaposition of classical imagery and modern elements,and elaborates the secondary creation and representative Gothic architecture types in animated films.The third part is the second chapter.Starting from the closed space,the analysis starts from the repressed body in the closed space and the resistance of the body in the shelter respectively.The fourth part is the third chapter.Starting from the space of wonderland,it elaborates its chic and romantic embodiment in that space.The fifth part is the fourth chapter.Starting from the space of imagination,it analyzes the differential generation of emotions,the mirroring expression of desires and the intentional presentation after getting what one wants in the Gothic world of illusion.The sixth part is the fifth chapter,which is also a conclusion.It summarizes the contents of the previous abstracted chapters in a figurative way.It returns to the realistic metaphor of Gothic animation,excavates the rebellious spirit of Gothic aesthetics in animation,elaborates on the re-examination of death in Gothic animated films,and deeply analyzes the humanistic connotation behind Gothic animated films and their ultimate attribution.
