As a result of petroleum geologists' workhard generation by generation, large numbers of oil and gas fields have been discovered, such as Daqing and shengli oil field and as on, in the terrestrial producing basins in East China since the nation's establishment. Moreover, one theory of multiple oil and gas accumulation has been set up, which extended the theory of terrestrial petroleum geology in China. Along with changeover from exploring large-scale structural hydrocarbon reservoirs to seeking subtle hydrocarbon reservoirs, especially lithologic hydrocarbon reservoirs, the search for oil and gas becomes more sophisticated. Consequently, petroleum geologists urgently need new theories to guide the exploration for these hydrocarbon reservoirs. Among them, the pool-forming mechanism of lithologic hydrocarbon reservoirs is the key problem to puzzle exploration staff at present. The goal of this analysis is to use various methods to understand the pool-forming mechanism of lithologic hydrocarbon reservoirs in South slope of Huimin sag. In the light of modern petroleum geology, log geology, seismic stratigraphy, sedimentology, geochemical analysis, integrated cores and data of experimental analysis, the paper studies stratigraphic framework, oil sources and the development and distribution of reservoirs of the less explored South slope of Huimin sag. Then, from the view point of modern experimental techniques and mathematical statistics, the characteristics of migration and accumulation ofvarious hydrocarbon reservoirs are analyzed. Where integrated with structures, the control factors to reservoir formation and distributive rules are elucidated, and moreover, the four models for migration and accumulation of oil and gas are built up. According to the results of this study, distributive rules and exploration approaches for lithologic hydrocarbon reservoirs are ulteriorly summarized and the favorable regions for petroleum exploration are predicted.
