The inversion of reservoir parameters constrained by logging materials is a very important research topic not only in Geophysics but also in Geophysical Prospecting. The theory and algorithm presented here point out problems that are often met in practical use.On the basis of optimization methods, theory of wavelet and wave impedance inversion is set up. A new algorithm — Iterative Reweighted Conjugate Gradient Method which can eliminate the influence of outlier and noise is given here. The bridges between wave impedance inversion and real seismic data processing are founded by logging inversion and lithological parameter inversion. Velocity and density are assumed as two independent parameters. We select the Method of Optimum Adjustment In Complex Shape which can combine geological interpretation with logging materials and human's experience so that the results may be easily controlled. Two examples from seismic prospecting are given in order to test the effect, accuracy and resolving power of the algorithm.
